Labor Day Stay-cation

Gentry and I were starting to feel sorry for ourselves Friday afternoon as we watched practically our whole neighborhood head out for a weekend vacation.  Since we haven't really gone on a vacation this year we decided to have a stay-cation.
(Isn't this an awesome pic of us?)
Gentry got home early on Friday afternoon, so I announced that we were going to have a stay-cation and all the kids started screaming because they were so excited.  Boston asked where we were going and I told him nowhere, and that we were staying here to do something fun.  How quickly their smiles turned to disappointment.  But I told them we were going to the movie and then dinner afterward and they all perked up.

So off to Nanny McPhee we went.  The movie was OK, and the kids seemed to enjoy it.  After that we went to good ol' Texas Roadhouse...a family favorite and actually the kids asked to go there.  On the way home we rented Diary of a Wimpy Kid and after the kids bathed and brushed their teeth we finished the night watching the movie.  I actually thought it was pretty funny.  The kids loved it.

Then this morning the kids all got up early because they were excited to go to the Zoo.  I told them we had to hurry and mop the floor, clean their rooms etc. and they were all really good helpers...which isn't always how it is at our house.  So we were off to a good start.

The Zoo was actually really fun.  We got there right when it opened and it wasn't super busy.  I do have to say that I might have some lazy little boys...they wanted to ride in the wagon the whole time. (even if we were only walking 5 feet.)

Now what better way to read a map, then with some lovely dollar store glue on nails.  Alyssa LOVES them.
We got the boys out of the wagon long enough to snap a picture here.
It may have been enough to wear them out.
The reason the kids are all smiling so "natural" here is because they thought the were hilarious because they were picking the gorilla's nose.
Notice the boys a little stressed from stepping out of the wagon...
Now if only the wagon came with a sunshade..

Your labor day weekend was 10 times better than mine. I went to a funeral this morning and then straight to work. My kids would love to go to the zoo. I bet the weather was perfect. Jett lost his first tooth at school last week and later on that day he said "now I look like Boston".
