My Own Half Marathon...

So my friend Angie has been wanting to run a half marathon.  I run with her every morning and try to tell her it's not worth it.  The last time I ran a marathon I didn't even lose weight. Not to mention the money you spend to run the race.  So I told her we could invent our own half marathon and take the money we would have spent and buy ourselves a new pair of capri's.  So that's what we did this morning.  I bought mine the night before just to make sure I didn't back out:)

Her husband was really nice, he even drove around to find us and then he came out at the end to take a picture.  Gentry took a picture too, after I called him and told him I needed one.  Apparently he didn't find my invented 1/2 Marathon too exciting.

You Decide...

So a couple weeks ago we made pretzels with the kids.  I let them make their own shape.  We've done this in the past and they usually just make the letter of their name.  This time Brock got done with his pretzel and this is what I found.

I looked at it, then took another look.  I looked at Brock and said, "Brock what did you decide to make?"  He replied with "It's a sucker Mom!"  "Yes, yes it IS a sucker isn't it?!?"  I called Gentry over to see his "sucker"...we both couldn't stop laughing.

I hope none of you are offended by Brock's sucker...hopefully it will at least give you a little laugh for the day.

Head VS Tooth

Alyssa and Brock were playing/wrestling (probably a little fighting involved) when Brock's head collided with Alyssa's tooth.  She really wanted me to blog this story and she also wanted me to include the time it happened.  7:02 PM to be exact...she said she checked the clock.  I won't mention the fact that the tooth has been hanging on by a string for the last month.  But she did say it was very sore.  Can you tell how sore it was by the grin on her face?  Also luckily the Tooth Fairy made it last night.  She woke up to no money, but when Gentry came in her room to check he noticed the money was dropped on her floor.  Love that Tooth Fairy.

Alyssa's First Piano Recital

Alyssa had her first piano recital tonight.  She did a really good job.  We were super proud of her.
Alyssa's piano teacher Angie White.
Grandma Cyndy came to watch Alyssa
Grandpa Al and Grandma Suzie came too.
Boston and Brock actually sat quietly and listened the whole time.  We are sure proud of you Alyssa!!!

G-Force JAZZ!!!!

Brock and Boston got Jazz tickets from their junior Jazz team and last night was the game.  They had such a great time and Grandma Cyndy took Alyssa to gymnastics so I could go with Gentry and the boys.  (Thanks again Cyndy)

I love the difference between my boys.  As we sat down Brock started watching the game immediately.  Boston on the other hand was checking out the scenery everywhere but on the court.  I laughed as Boston came up to me concerned about the fact that everyone was booing the other team.  I told him they were just having fun.  Then later in the game he asked why everyone kept yelling "G-Force, G-Force"...then I explained they were chanting "Defense, Defense."

Brock, Max, JT, Boston, and Porter
We went with my brother Matt and his two boys and also my sister Missy's little boy JT.
I love Boston's face in this pic.  He was so excited to be at the Jazz game.  The tickets even came with a free hot dog and drink.  I mentioned to Matt that these were some pretty good tickets and he replied "Um, Betsy I don't think they can get much worse"(We were in the very top nosebleed section)...of course I was thinking about the fact that we got free food.  It's funny how free food affects my opinion on things:)
Wearing our Jazz gear....Gentry let me borrow his Jazz hat, and he had on a green jacket (that he ended up taking off).  But I have to say I'm proud...GENTRY HAS HIS EYES OPEN FOR THIS PIC!!!!

Easter Sunday

(I love their sleepy faces in this pic)
The kids woke up early (as usual) and couldn't wait to see what the Easter Bunny brought.  They came out of their rooms and found their Easter baskets were still empty.  I started laughing because you could see the disappointment and worry across their faces.  Then I told them we could check the basement.  The Easter bunny had left them the pre-packaged baskets.  So they were really excited to see that the Easter bunny didn't forget them after all.
We have made it a tradition the last few years to have Sticky Buns for breakfast.  For some reason Brock didn't want them this year though.
The Easter Bunny brought the kids kites.  Gentry was nice enough to help the kids get them flying in the air.
We went to my sister Janay's house for dinner with my siblings that live close.  The tradition is everyone has to find their egg to be able to eat dinner.
Gentry found my nephews egg that was hidden in the dryer vent and accidentally pushed it in and had to get a stick to get it out.
Janay's egg was on the roof of her 2 story house...needless to say she made her son get it for her.  Mine was almost as high, but Gentry climbed the rocks on her house and got it for me.

Yay we all got our eggs..DINNERTIME!

Another tradition is to talk about the real meaning of Easter with all of the cousins.  My mom has a little story/egg thing that teaches the kids.

Well I think the kids had a great Easter and it was fun to spend time with family.

EASTER WEEKEND

We have made it an annual tradition to take the kids to the Riverton Easter Egg hunt.  They love it.  It only lasts about 60 seconds but they get lots of candy and prizes.
It was fun for the kids.  They even say their cousins and friends while we were there.

We stopped by to check out the fire engine this time.  The fireman even let them have a seat in the drivers chair.
I dressed the kids in bright clothes that way I thought it would be easier to find them....I wore a bright shirt so they could find me too:)
Then it was off to Grandma Cyndy's house for a fun Easter egg hunt, and yummy dinner.
The boys went running to get as many eggs as they can.  It's funny because they passed a million eggs to get to the ones in the back of the  yard.
But Alyssa was the smart one, she gathered the eggs closest to the house.
Boston and his stash of eggs.

Jordyn, Alyssa, Boston, Brock, Bridger and Kamri.
And we can't forget the tradition of NEW SWIMSUITS!!!  I love their little white bodies. (Thanks Grandma Cyndy and Grandpa Kim!)

More to come tomorrow....

Daddy Daughter Night.

Alyssa had Daddy Daughter Night at the church for her Achievement Days.  I couldn't believe all the work the leaders went through to make such a great activity.  Gentry said it was really fun, and that he was super impressed.  Alyssa thought it was so fun, and was so excited to go because they were making all the Dads dance.  She thought Gentry would get embarrassed...so she couldn't wait.

I think they are both blinking for this one, but it's the only shot they have of both of them.
