Visit to Alan and Michelle's House

We took the kids up this weekend to Eagle Idaho to visit my brother Alan and his family.  They moved to Eagle about a year ago and I'm the only one who has been there.  The kids were so excited to go.  The only complaint was we couldn't stay long enough.  (Although I'm sure Alan and Michelle were probably ready for us to leave minutes after getting there.)

We picked Gentry up from work on our way out and this time we took Frannie with us.  She did good, but I think it will be the last vacation with her:)

We went to the Boise river and floated down on tubes and little boats.  It was really fun.  It took about 2 1/2 hours and we all loved it.  Alan was nice enough to help us get set up, but he was on call all weekend and couldn't join us for the river.
There had been a bunch of fires nearby so the air was really hazy and smokey.  But earlier that morning it was beautiful weather.

Michelle and Morgan are holding on to this tree stump and seconds later we crashed into them...not sure how it happened but we laughed the whole time.
The boys wanted to hang on to everyone else.  They said it was way more fun with everyone else...apparently Mom and Dad ain't so fun anymore.
Brock at one point decided to grab onto a tree thinking he could stop the boat, but instead the boat kept going without him...he slipped through Gentry's hands.  Gentry yelled for him to let go of the tree and all I could see was his panicked face trying to swim towards the boat.  He caught on to the boat a minute later but we were all laughing so hard it was hard to grab him.  Brock laughed after he realized he was OK, but I could see the fear in his eyes while he was in the river.  There were a few limbs that hit us in the face/legs etc but luckily no major injuries.  Megan lost her sunglasses after tipping over on her float.

The boys were loving it.  They were being silly the whole time.  The first little drop we went over I was nervous and after we got over it Brock said "Now that was WICKED awesome!"  We laughed hearing him say that cause I've never heard him say that before.  So apparently it was REALLY cool.

Alyssa was on the tubes with Maren and Megan...they tied all the tubes together.

When we got home Michelle made dinner and Megan decided to paint the kids faces like Indians.  They thought they were so cool.  They had built a teepee the night before with left over logs and rope that were in Alan's backyard.

Alan was nice enough to teach them to shoot bows and arrows.  They LOVED it.  Now they want  to buy their own.

The kids asked if they could sleep in the teepee and Megan volunteered to sleep with them.  I was sure they would come in after an hour or so, but they slept out there the ENTIRE NIGHT!!  They were so proud of themselves.
Megan even built a fire for them and helped them make s'mores...Ok so maybe I had one too.

And last but not LEAST....Alan bought me a SNUGGIE!!!  He bought it as a joke, but little did he know that I LOVE IT!!!!  It's already gotten good use.

Thanks ALAN, MICHELLE, MAREN, MEGAN AND MORGAN!!!  We had a blast!

***On the way home our kids kept asking if we could turn around and go back to Idaho.***

Work BBQ...'n stuff.

Gentry had a work BBQ Monday night.  The "kids" had a blast.

Gentry decided to race some of his work buddies.
He lost of course...leaving me a little disappointed:)
 Alyssa and Marin
Brock and Drew collecting prizes for 'fishing'.

Boston beat everyone in the race.  I couldn't believe how fast he was.

Brock won in the hula hoop contest.
 More fishing.

Some how the kids talked me into letting them have highlights.  They were so excited.

I signed the kids up for a couple studies.  Alyssa did the meningitis study.  (Which worked out great because she got paid for the shots she was going to have to get anyway.)  So I let them spend some of the money.  The other part of the money went into a savings account.  Alyssa chose to spend her money on these boots. I thought they were super cute.
Boston did the allergy study.  He has actually shared his money with Brock so they both have some money in their savings account.   Boston also got money from his Kindle we sold so he had enough money to buy his own iPod Touch.  He thinks it's pretty cool.
We went to see Connor ordained as an Elder last Sunday and got a quick group shot of those of us that were there.  I can't believe how time flies.  I still remember Connor crying over a broken binki.  And now he is getting ready to go on a mission.

Wicked Week....

So a little over a year ago we decided to buy tickets to see Wicked.  The tickets were expensive (to me at least) but we decided to "go for it".  Well the time finally came to see it and I LOVED it.   We went with Kristin and Caiser and a few other couples.  We started with dinner at Z'tejas then it was off to Capitol Theater!
Kurt & Kara, Heidi & Jeff, Gentry & Me, Chelsea & Craig, Kristin & Caiser, Tori & Mitch.

As the play started I was worried that everyone had talked it up too much.  I was sure that I was going to be disappointed.  But I wasn't at all.  I loved the story and the music.  Gentry turned to me at the end of the night at said "That was definitely worth the money!"  We both agreed it was worth every dime!

Friday afternoon we took the kids to see Diary of a Wimpy kid.  This was the first time we've ever taken the kids to a movie that we didn't see.  We dropped them off at their movie and then we went to see Total Recall with Kristin and Caiser. The kids had fun...and so did we!

Cyndy took them for a sleepover that night and so Gentry and I went to see Step Up 4...that was a first for us, we've never gone to two movies in a day.  It was fun!
The other "exciting" event was that Gentry got a new watch.  I know I'm nerdy but it's fun having him have the same watch as me....different color of course.
