Baskeball Tryouts

Brock wanted to try out for a super league basketball team.  I was hesitant at first because usually these teams consume your life.  But then I found out they are only having one game a week and so I thought it would be fun for him.  Every time I turn around Brock is dribbling through the house or spinning the ball on his fingers.  He wears a jersey everyday to school (most of the jerseys are really old because they were Gentry's when he was a kid....I like to call them "vintage".)  I guess you could say he LOVES basketball!
So after he went to try out I started to get nervous that he wouldn't make it.  He played his little heart out and did really well but they kind of already had the team picked out.  They had six players already picked and they only wanted eight....which made me nervous.  But he made it!!  I am so proud of him!

The whole day while we were waiting to hear from the coach he kept saying "Mom, did you hear anything yet? I just can't concentrate!"  It made me laugh but I think I was just as stressed as him!  I didn't want to tell him if he didn't make it.
He wore this headband that he bought and a Jazz jersey to tryout.  He is such a cute kid.
Adrienne came into town to get some decor for her house.  She is in the middle of remodeling and that is a ton of work!  So when she got up here the 50s Shop asked us to do some more pictures for their website.  So we agreed.  These are some pictures from my cell phone.
They had us model the poodle skirt outfits this time too.
We packed a TON of stuff in her car.  All the seats were down and there is barely room for Adrienne to drive.  But we got everything on her list!  (And possibly a couple extra items.)

Happy Birthday Alyssa!

Alyssa turned 12 this year.  So now she gets to go to Young Women.  She is so excited.  The Young Women came over the night before and decorated our door.
Alyssa really wanted an new iPod touch.  I told her no because it was $300.  I told her that she could either keep the present we got her or I would give her $200 towards an iPod.  She chose to keep the present...not knowing what it was.
Brock made her a present.  I thought it was really cute, he decorated a Nike box and put a bunch of Reeses peanut butter cups (left over from Halloween) with a dollar.  He knew that the Reeses were one of her favorite.  I thought it was really sweet of him.

Boston rolled up $8 and wrapped it for Alyssa.  I thought it was really sweet of him too.  I was really proud of the boys for being so thoughtful.
Alyssa had picked these boots out a couple weeks ago, but I wrapped them and wouldn't let her wear them yet.
I wrapped her iPhone with Gentry's sweater to disguise what it was.  She thought it was an iPod...but I told her it wasn't an iPod....and I love her face when she realized it was an iPhone.
It was so fun surprising her.  I still can't believe I caved and got her the phone.  Gentry really wanted to get it for her.
We took Alyssa to Chick Fil A for breakfast.  The boys entertained us outside the window.
Janay gave Alyssa a really cute book and a cover for her temple recommend.  She loved them!
Alyssa kept asking to go to do baptisms for the dead for her birthday.  So I arranged to take the girls and then we came back to our house for pizza and dessert.

 Alyssa and Morgan Watts
 Brynlee Williams and Alyssa
 Natalie White and Alyssa
 Erin White and Alyssa
 Alyssa and Maisen Dailey

The boys created this on the front lawn....they're always "decorating" our yard with some type of invention.
Kate and Ashley came up from Vegas on Saturday.  Alyssa was so excited to go back and do baptisms for the dead.  This was Kate's first time going!  So glad Alyssa has such good friends and cousins!
Alyssa sent a group text to grandparents letting them know her change of number.  Later that night Kim wrote this...to my dad by accident.  But the text exchange cracked me up....

Happy Halloween!

This year Halloween was on a Thursday.  The kids were off track and the weather was beautiful.  Couldn't ask for a better day/night.
Gentry and Brock love watching the Jazz game on our bed.
My Dad invited the kids to come over and learn how to make fudge.  Alyssa has been asking him to teach her, so she was really excited.  She loves fudge.

We went over to Trent and Mendee's house for dinner.  Angie made this Mummy Meatloaf.  I tried claiming that I made it, but everyone laughed.  They all know I couldn't be that creative...and good at cooking.
Alyssa took off with her friends early so I didn't get a picture of her costume.  Luckily I got one last week when she dressed up.

Bridger got baptized on Saturday.  Gentry had to work so he didn't make it.

My friend April gave us tickets to the Jazz game.  We went a little early hoping to get autographs, but we didn't get any.  The kids played a game and won free towels though!

Alyssa was the only one who actually made a basket!  Pretty impressive!

The boys had a blast trying to catch things that were thrown into the crowd and cheering on the Jazz.
