Someone's been in our backyard...

Alyssa is getting older now, so she doesn't say as many funny things as she used to.  But tonight she came in from the backyard (panicked) and said.  "Mom, someone has been in our backyard...Our swing is tipped over the trees are broken it's a mess."  I started laughing and said "Alyssa, it was the wind"  and she looked at me like that's not possible and said "But the wind isn't that heavy!"

Yes this is the 3rd tree the wind has ruined...and they were all our biggest and prettiest...I'm so sad.  Stupid wind.

Did I mention Alyssa bought he own rollerskates and has learned to use them?  She's getting pretty good too!

Found A PEA...

So the other day Gentry and I were sitting at the kitchen table eating lunch and Boston comes running in with his pants around his ankles carrying toilet paper.  As he gets closer Gentry and I realize he has POOPY TOILET PAPER in his hand.  And he is saying "Look Mom and Dad, there was a PEA IN MY POOP!"  He was so proud of himself.  Gentry yelled "Boston, get back in the bathroom, you know we never bring out poopy toilet paper!"  And Boston replies back with "But Dad there is a PEA in it."....hmmm can't wait til corn season.  I wonder what he was thinking...hmmm a pea...how cool, I better go show Mom and Dad.

Hope you weren't eating while you were reading this post.

This pic is from his birthday....I'm sure you're all glad I didn't take a picture of the actual "event".

Someday he'll read this and be so embarrassed...I think.

Our First Rodeo

Yesterday was my sister in law Michele's birthday and they were going to the rodeo...well we decided to tag along and I'm glad we did we had a ton of fun.  I'd never been to a rodeo (that I can remember at least).
We decided to have a BBQ at my house before we went to the rodeo.  We had a couple cakes and cupcakes too...I really needed to "carb load".  Don't worry I'm sure everything we ate was "fat free and organic".
This is a crappy picture cause it was taken with my phone.

I love this picture of Boston.  He was so excited to see the two guys parachuting in to start the Rodeo.  I thought it was super amazing they have that much control to land.
This is a picture of the kids running to do the cash calf thing.  They tape dollar bills onto a calf and send them out to a swarm of money hungry kids.  Brock got knocked down at one point and I thought he was going to cry but he got right up and kept running.  I asked him later if he got hurt and he was in denial and said "I didn't fall that was Boston".  I know I didn't get them confused because Brock has a buzz and was wearing something different than Boston...no excuses.  Gentry and I just laughed that he didn't want to admit he got knocked down.

FATHER'S DAY

My favorite thing about Daddy:

Here are the kids answers...

BOSTON: I love to go on trips with Daddy.

BROCK: I like to play basketball with Daddy and he always helps me to get the balls off the roof.

ALYSSA: Dad always makes me smile and laugh.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY GENTRY!!!

And Happy Father's Day to both of our Dads and all of the GREAT DADS out there!

Karate Kid

We decided that since we live so close to the District that we should all take a walk to the movie Karate Kid today. The kids thought it was fun.

When we got home Brock wanted to show Gentry his Karate Moves. This video makes me laugh because I love how he introduces himself as Brock and then he gives the camera the "come fight me" hand motion....I don't know
where he comes up with this stuff.

LAGOON TIME

It was stake Lagoon day, so we decided to take the kids to Lagoon yesterday.  We got there right when it opened and we stayed for a record time...until 7:00PM.  Which is a pretty big deal in the Mikesell family.

Alyssa, Lexi (Alyssa's friend), Boston, Brock
Me and the kids went on a bunch of rides together, Gentry said he just can't go on rides like he used to....I guess we really are just getting older:)
Gentry's stomach could handle the train...luckily:)
One quick story:
So we took the kids to the Musical Express and it basically goes in circles so I sat out with Gentry and we were watching the kids.  They all four sat in the same cart and when the lady came by she told them it was only 3 people per cart.  So rather than Boston get out with Brock, Brock decides to go by himself. Then apparently going by himself didn't look fun so he sat with some other random kid.  I was laughing so hard because as the ride starts going around you squish the person on the edge and Brock was holding on for dear life so he didn't squish the random kid he was sitting with....but he couldn't hold on for long and he was squished up right next to the random kid. I am on the side bent over laughing my guts out at Brock's embarrassed face.  Luckily they all had smiles and none of the kids thought there was anything weird about Brock going with someone he didn't know.
You can't really see but Alyssa,  Lexi, and Boston are in cart 4 and Brock and the random kid are in cart 5 together.  It's a great shot of the kid we don't know but you can't see my kids because of the white bar.
I'm sure the other people watching were wondering why Gentry and I were busting a gut watching such a boring ride.

Until next time.....

IT'S ABOUT TIME!

Finally we have some nice weather here!  So we decided to blow up the helicopter the boys got for their birthday.  They loved it.
Copper, Boston, Brock, and JT...and Gentry:)
I love that Alyssa's friend Lexi made it in the background of this picture.

Memorial Day

This year for Memorial Day we had my family and Gentry's Mom (his Dad had to work) over for dinner and swimming.  It was fun.  It wasn't super warm...where is the good weather?  But the kids still played in the pool for a long time.
TOO BUSY TO EATING TO LOOK UP AT ME....
THE FIRST GRANDKID TO GRADUATE!!!  Missy made Buster a cake.
I think it's safe to say that Buster was the most popular kid in the pool.
