Birthday Lunch

For everyone's birthday (well the girls at least) we try to get together at someone's house and we get Cafe Rio take out. Well it was my birthday so we got together for some yummy food. My two sis-in laws couldn't make it. My Grandma Betty was with us though! She is 90 years old...can you believe that???

Ummm so you are wondering where the Cafe Rio is? Yep already in our tummies, we ate it before we had a chance to take a picture.

My friend Adrienne took me to get my nails done. It was so fun, but now my poor clients keep getting stabbed cause I'm still not used to them. Typing is a little harder too, but I'm getting used to it. I love having nails cause you feel like your hands look so much prettier.

Happy New Year!

Christmas

On Christmas Day we took the kids to see the movie Marley and Me. I thought it would be cute for them because it was rated PG. Man I noticed A LOT more having my kids there. I wouldn't recommend it...at least for kids my age.

We went to Gentry's parents house for dinner and the power went out just as we were getting ready to eat. Luckily everything was all cooked. So we enjoyed each others company by flashlight.

Cyndy gave the kids their presents and when I got home and was loading them on the computer Boston said to me "Mom Brock says when our eyes are red like that, it means we have special powers"...he was referring to the red eye. But that is Brock in a nutshell. He is always looking for a way to get "special powers."

I hope you all had a great holiday!

Christmas Day

Christmas morning was so much fun. The kids got so excited about every present. I love watching them getting so excited. Kim and Cyndy came to our house to watch them. We had a couple good laughs. The kids were super happy with all of their presents.

Gettting Crafty...

So Gentry was out of town for a few days working and Adrienne and I decided to do a project while he was gone. Here's what we came up with. Brock loved his cape and said "This is what I've always wanted!" Boston loved it until he saw Alyssa's apron, and decided to turn his cape around the front so it looked more like her apron. I let them open these on Christmas Eve because they couldn't wait to open presents.

Happy Holidays

Santa came to Janay's house and the kids loved him. No crying from my family.

Happy Holidays

Boston was an angel for this years Nativity story, he couldn't have been happier. Brock was a shepherd and Alyssa was Mary.

Christmas Eve was at my sister Janay's house this year. Even my Grandma Betty was able to be there. The only person missing was my brother Alan. Hopefully he can make it next year.

This has been such a fun holiday time for me and my family. We had a great Christmas. And I had one of the best birthdays! I've been having too much fun to blog, so now I will play catch up for the days I've missed.

Toenail Clippings???

So I know the title of this post is a little gross sounding so let me explain.

Boston and Brock were playing outside and Boston found this tiny little thing that looked like a crumb of some sort. So they came running in to show me. (I don't know what their obsession is with these teeny tiny things.) They are yelling "Mom come look at this!!" So I go over to check it out and I'm squinting trying to make it out and I said "What is it you guys?" And Brock pipes in "Is it somebody's toenail clippings?" I about died laughing because now I have to tell you the back ground on that story:

I make everyone go out on the back patio to clip their toenails, and one day Gentry clipped his toenails and came in. A few minutes later Alyssa came in to tell us that Boston was out collecting Gentry's toenail clippings...like some sort of toy collection. I went out there and told him it was disgusting and that he needed to throw away the toenails--and he was actually sad about it.
Some day Boston is going to read this and want to throw up. So while your kids are collecting Transformers, and Barbies...my kids will be collecting..toenails? YUCK!

Bring Your Best Gift....

My friend Heather called me a while ago and asked if she should throw a Christmas party with our friends. I told her it was my turn to host a party because everyone else has done the last few and it was my turn. So the deal was she was going to do the inviting so I just had to have the house.

So every year we play the gift game where each couple brings one $10 gift and one white elephant. Well a couple years ago my friend Katie (bless her heart) decided that a box of chocolates would be a great $10 gift (I think she even went over the $10 limit for the chocolates). I can't remember what her white elephant was but that's beside the point. So the game went on and we were at the end and noticed that we were missing a $10 gift. So I speak up and say wait a minute whose $10 gift have we not opened? No one responded...then Katie came around the corner with a red face and said "Ok everyone I know you didn't like the chocolates but that was MY $10 gift." We all about PEED our pants laughing because everyone was treating it like an unwanted white elephant....a few people tried to back-track and tell her it was a great gift we just had already had so much candy that we didn't want it. So Katie's ego was a little bruised and she came this year with a little anxiety about her gift. She even went over the limit trying to impress us with her gift. A few people fought over it, and even her white elephant was a hit. (I wish I had a pic to show...it was pretty darn funny.) So good job Katie!!! I knew you could do it!:) I hope you enjoy our white elephant...the 90210 first season on DVD. (Yes that was our white elephant)

Lots of food, laughed a ton...doesn't get much better! Thank you Cyndy for taking the kids!

PS Katie, I hope you know I'm just giving you a hard time! We all love you and you make the party so much fun! We missed you while you were in Spokane!

Christmas Cards

One of my very favorite things about Christmas time is getting Christmas cards in the mail. I always get excited to get the mail...for some reason I always have this hope that I'm going to win a million dollars or something. But I'm always let down because it's just bills and ads. But at Christmas time I may not get my million dollars, but I do get Christmas cards and it is so fun! My only complaint is my mail person is always late! I wait until about 4:00pm or 5:00pm before the mail even gets here...and sometimes it's even later.

So my mother in law is so fabulous she wanted the grand-kids to all have matching sweaters for her Christmas card picture, and she bought them the cute sweaters they are wearing in this picture. I need to get a copy of the whole family so you can see how cute it looks with all of the grand-kids. That will be my next update!

Getting Creative.

So I know I'm a total nerd, but I have been looking for a specific skirt for a while now. So after shopping for the kids on Black Friday, my mother in law and I searched EVERYWHERE for the skirt I made up in my head. With no luck I decided I had to do something. So I took an old skirt and made some changes and TA-DA! (Thank you mom for doing the actual "leg work") I was so excited about it. No one can quite appreciate this, unless they spent the time looking for the skirt that doesn't exist. Anyway I also made my necklace. Do you know how hard it was to find a black flower??? I spray painted one black until I found this. Now I can put my spray paint away.
PS I am getting ready to do Christmas cards. If you didn't get one last year or you have since moved, email me your new address @ elizmk@aol.com.
