My Blue Flip Flops

Ok so I titled this post my blue flip flops because I was so excited to get my toenails done last night to match my blue flip flops. I mentioned it to everyone at our Girls Night Out, that I wished I was wearing them so I could show everyone(a few too many times)...so first thing the next morning I took a picture of my toenails with my matching flip flops. PS Just typing FLIP FLOPS so many times makes me wish we still called them "thongs". I tried to get people to call them "Flongs" last year, but no one caught on. (They just looked at me really weird.)

Anyway I had a fun time visiting with everyone! Thanks for the fun night! Thanks Lindsay for letting us come to your house!

My Little Girl Is Growing UP!

I have had such mixed feelings the last few days. Alyssa had her first day of ALL DAY school. I was so excited for her to start and by about noon I was calling Gentry to tell him I was sad she was gone. She has my mother in law for a teacher and I asked her when she got home what she called her. She told me she called her "Mrs. Mikesell." I thought she might call her Grandma, but I guess she wanted to be like the other students. She is pretty lucky to have her Grandma for her teacher. Cyndy is the best first grade teacher and hopefully next year she can have my mom for her 2nd grade teacher. (At least I know she's in good hands while she's at school.)

Then to top it all off this morning, I was looking at her tooth and asked if I could pull it out and she said yes, so I gave it a little push and it popped right out. She started gagging, (she thought it broke off in her mouth.) and I grabbed the tooth. It was pretty funny. Then after I pulled it out I almost started to cry because she is so grown up. What is my problem? I thought I would be excited for her to grow up. I think I am a mental case.

Alyssa LOVES first grade, and her new teacher(Grandma Cyndy.) She loves eating lunch at school too! She said the lunch was really yummy. That's good right?

PS I'm still going private, but I thought I'd give you slow pokes another day or two to get me your email addresses!

Gotta Go PRIVATE!

Ok ok so I gave everyone crap about going private, and now I am going to do it. I just noticed a lot of "random" people, from weird places are checking my blog, and it makes me nervous. Ok so my brother made me nervous about it too. So I'm taking his advice and going PRIVATE! So give me your email addresses so I can invite you to my blog. I don't have very many email addresses, so just incase send it to me. I love communicating with everyone through blogging, so even if you're a random visiter leave me your email and I'll include you! Have a HAPPY DAY!!!

Learning to DIVE!

Alyssa has been way nervous to dive. We have been trying to teach her all summer. Just yesterday she decided to try diving, and now she can do it! I was so proud of her. Brock is working on his "Kung Fu Panda" moves, and Boston is off eating lunch.

Lake Powell

So I made it out to Lake Powell for a whopping 28 hours. Yes I know I am pretty pathetic. I was having a good time until my nephews caught a scorpion and two other HUGE spiders. The scorpion attacked the spider, then the scorpion died. I had the stupid vision stuck in my head all day. You know how when you see spiders you can feel them crawling on you even when they're not really there. Anyway a half hour later I was talking to my sister when I looked down and I had a LIZARD crawling on my shoulder. (Remember the scene on Parent Trap with the lizard??..cause that was me.) I was pretty sure it was a scorpion when I looked down, so with my wonderful "fight or flight" skills...I froze and started screaming. I screamed so loud my throat hurt. My dang nephews have never had such a good laugh...until the next day while I was trying to float in the lake, they tipped me over. And let me just tell you, I don't do well in lakes. I am pretty sure there is always a fish nearby ready to bite me. So once again they got me screaming. I asked why they always torture me and my mom said cause they get the biggest reaction from me. (And the loudest.) So watch out to all my nieces and nephews...I have something planned for you!

Anyway my kids had a good time, and Alyssa insisted on staying, and my awesome family took care of her while Gentry and I took the twins home. I was so glad to sleep in my own bed that didn't have scorpions in it. Let's just say I'm not the "out-doorsy" type. But I did it for my kids...I just couldn't do more than one night.

POOL DAYS!

This is why I love my pool. I'm telling you it is the best money I've spent. There is nothing better to wear out your kids. Keep in mind these pictures were taken at 5:45PM and they didn't wake up until the next morning. It was pretty funny cause they asked for popcorn while they watched TV, and Brock actually fell asleep with popcorn still hanging on his lip.

The kids have all become really good swimmers, and I am champion floater...as long as I have my floaty thingy.

Fourth of July Weekend

We had a really fun 4th of July! It started out on Thursday night, we took the kids to the Riverton parade. We went with Brock and Kristin and their family. The kids had a good time, but it was WAY HOT! I swear I thought sweat was going to start showing through my shirt...gross! So about half way through the parade we decided it was a little "over-rated" and told the kids if they left early we would buy them a snow cone. They thought the snow cones sounded like a good idea and we left early. We went swimming and Brock and Kristin provided some fireworks. The kids thought it was was cool.

Friday morning we went to the Riverton pool for "Diving For Dollars" and I helped out a little bit. ( I get suckered in to it cause my sister is in charge.) The kids got lots of money and treats so they thought it was way fun.

Later Friday afternoon we had my family and Gentry's family over for a swimming party/BBQ. It was lots of fun and we were totally worn out! We joined the kids for bed at about 8:00...didn't even get a chance to think about watching fireworks. Luckily we did that the night before!

I have to write one last random side note:
This morning Alyssa was watching tv and pushed pause and made me come watch this infomercial about "Green Bags". If you haven't heard of them they keep your fruit and veggies fresh for up to 30 days. Alyssa wanted me to buy them so bad. She thought it was just what we needed, a few weeks before she wanted me to buy some purse organizer. I swear some of the most random things. Hey at least she's looking out for me right?!?

Summer FUN!!

So my friends all decided it would be a good idea to go on a couples trip. Of course I was all for it...no kids...being lazy. Anyway we ended up going to Mesquite. It was really fun, but not long enough. I could have used a couple more days.

My in-laws were so great to take my kids, I don't know who had more fun...me or the kids. They did everything from go to the movies to making tie die shirts...which they won't take off. My kids won't let me wash the shirts for fear of ruining them. So instead they just stink. Oh well...they're happy. I can't tell you how nice it was to have a break from them and know they were having such a good time too. Of course after picking them up and getting them to bed I found myself singing "back to life..back to reality etc." (you know the rest of the song, but that's the only part I remember, so I just sang that part over and over.) Anyway let's just say I hope they were better for my mother in law. (Sorry Cyndy if they were stinkers.)

Anyway we went to Vegas. Candice and Laura wanted to see the water show at the Bellagio..so I grudgingly went along. I was hot (it was 108 degrees) and thirsty..and I had to pee. Anyway I found myself asking if I could just swing my hose around with music so we could go home, but they didn't go for it. So I found myself a bathroom, and a drink and went into the air conditioned hotel.

I don't think I've laughed so hard in a long time. They were a lot of fun, and I was glad we could all go. I don't think I've stayed up so late in a LONG time. Yes just for the record I stayed up until 2 AM!...and woke up at 5 AM to go running the next morning. Not much sleep, but we had too much fun laughing to get any rest.
